So Sad. My father and I met Nick at Spring Training this year in Az. After hearing so much about him for the past 3-4 years it was very cool to finally meet the top prospect in the Angels system. He seemed really nice and went out of his way to be sure to sign everything for everyone who was watching the practice field. He even backtracked for some fans who asked him to sign and pose for a quick picture. I handed him a ball and got him to sign for my father and I as he spoke briefly to the people next to us. Definitely the nicest of all players we had met at Spring Training.

Last night Nick pitched in only his second pro game of his career and I believe it was his first as an actual starter. He pitched 6 shutout innings of baseball and only lost due to the Angels bullpen.
Hours later, he
died in a Felony Hit and Run accident in Fullerton because of an idiot driving drunk. So sad and senseless.
Word is the killer has a record of DUI -- Multiple violations and driving on a suspended license.
Unfreakingbelievable.
Rest in peace Nick.
